Improving Work Ethics with Small Changes in the Workday

Improving Work Ethics with Small Changes in the Workday

Our work hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, which I believe is a balanced schedule. We get an hour-long lunch break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, giving us enough time to recharge. However, before, after lunch, my colleague and I often felt sluggish and lazy. We’d go back to our desks, only to struggle with focus and productivity in the afternoon. It was as if the energy we had in the morning completely drained by the time the lunch break ended.

We knew that something needed to change if we were going to improve our productivity and work ethics throughout the day. On 10-02-2025, we decided to take a simple step: we made it a habit to take a quick break after lunch. This small change made a world of difference. Instead of dragging through the second half of the day, we felt more energized and ready to tackle our tasks with a renewed focus.

This experience taught me a lot about work ethics. It’s easy to think that working straight through the day, without any breaks, shows dedication and commitment. But in reality, our productivity suffers when we don’t take the time to recharge. Maintaining strong work ethics isn’t just about staying busy or working hard; it’s also about knowing when to step back and take care of yourself so you can perform at your best.

The impact of this small change on our work ethics has been profound. We now approach the workday with a healthier mindset. We’re not just focused on completing tasks—we’re focused on completing them with energy, clarity, and efficiency. A small break after lunch has helped us maintain strong work ethics, stay motivated, and continue working at a high level throughout the day.

In the end, work ethics aren’t just about pushing through a long day. It’s about understanding what helps you stay productive, motivated, and engaged. Small changes, like taking breaks to recharge, can have a big impact on the quality of your work and your ability to maintain focus, making the workday more fulfilling and productive.
