Job searching is an experience that brings together people from different backgrounds, all with a common goal—finding the right opportunity to build their careers. On February 2, 2023, during my job search, I attended an interview in Dubai. As I entered the company, I saw a large number of applicants, both men and women, all eagerly waiting for their chance to prove themselves. The room was filled with anticipation, nervous energy, and a shared hope for a better future.
Amidst the crowd, I met a young woman from Kerala, India. She had a warm and friendly personality, and our conversation quickly turned into an inspiring exchange of experiences and aspirations. She told me about her previous job as an office assistant in India and how she had come to Dubai with her husband in search of better opportunities. However, unlike some who choose to focus solely on household responsibilities, she was determined to work and contribute financially.
Her words reflected her strong will and ambition. She believed that financial independence was important, not just for personal growth but also to support her family and ensure a better future. “I didn’t want to be just a housewife,” she said. “I want to work, learn, and grow. My husband supports my dreams, and I want to support him as well.”
Hearing her story made me reflect on the journeys of so many people who leave their home countries, stepping into unfamiliar territories to chase their dreams. The job market in Dubai, like many other global cities, attracts countless individuals seeking career growth, financial stability, and new experiences. Some arrive with years of experience, while others come with fresh enthusiasm, ready to start from scratch. Regardless of their backgrounds, they all share a common struggle—the challenge of finding the right opportunity in a competitive environment.
This experience reminded me that job searching is more than just a process of securing employment. It is a journey of resilience, learning, and self-discovery. It is about meeting new people, hearing their stories, and realizing that behind every job seeker is a unique story of determination, sacrifice, and hope.
As I left the interview that day, I carried with me not just the anticipation of the results but also the inspiration from the people I had met. In a world where opportunities are not always easy to come by, those who persevere and believe in their abilities will eventually find their path.
